Josh’s Project Evaluation
For the project the group created a trailer for a new animated show called the Freaks of Nature that would be brought on to live tv.
What I contributed into the project was:- voice over, read scripted lines, camera shots used in the trailer, helped with editing of the trailer, helped to make the concept drawings.
The areas in which I could improve are learning to edit the trailer better and learn more about how to use the programmes more efficiently etc. Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Word Press, Adobe Audition
Things that could be improved if I were to make another media project are making sure everyone has a copy of the work incase someone isn’t in and we can keep going, I could improve my communication skills and time management.
Tyler’s Project Evaluation
For this brief our group came up with the idea for a new animated show called “The Freaks Of Nature” and we made a trailer for it. The plot of this show would be a group of Glaswegian teens who fight crime while juggling a school life, during all this they try to keep their identities a secret from the rest of the world. As well as having light hearted humour of an animated show it will also deal with topics that will be relevant to young people such as exams, mental health and other pressures that people in that age group can relate to.
I have contributed to the group by creating a storyboard for the trailer and helped to edit the video by putting in the effects using Adobe After Effects. My strengths in the group have been doing art for the project and editing the effects, such as of the ruler flying off screen, the bottle floating above the girl’s head and the timing of the scenes.
If I was to do this project again I would spend more time doing the effects so they are smoother and look more natural. I would learn more about the programmes we used to make this so it would look less static when the ruler and the bottler moving as I felt that they looked out of place with the rest of the video. The programmes we used to create the trailer were Adobe After Effects, Adobe Audition and Adobe Photoshop, I have used Audition a little before this brief but I have had no experience with the others so I would like to familiarise myself with these programmes so I will be able to use them better. In the future I would like to work on my time management as I feel that we took longer on this project than necessary.
Erin’s Project Evaluation
I contributed to the project by coming up with the main idea for the hypothetical animated show- high school students with super powers. From there I created various characters and fleshed them out by going into detail of some of their appearances, backstories, interests and their relationships with other characters. I drew concepts of two of the characters and what their school uniform and crest looked like, I even drew a concept for the show logo that I later put through photoshop and edited closely and put in the final trailer. Following on from that, I wrote a script for a hypothetical trailer incorporating two of the main characters as narrators. I then worked with Tyler to help create a storyboard. I also helped in part of the editing of the trailer by putting the clips we had filmed in real life and the various images we used for the trailer which was later animated by Tyler. Overall, I’m happy with the way the project turned out and feel that everyone’s creative efforts on the project paid off. I personally feel that my strengths in this project were story-telling and writing, talking and illustration. If I were to do a project like this again I think that the time and schedule that we completed the project in could be sped up and changed a little so that we could perhaps incorporate more into the final media product. If I were to learn and contribute more to the animation aspect of the trailer then I personally feel I could have provided more to the project.
Connor’s Project Evaluation
For this media project I worked on concept artwork using photoshop and hand drawn techniques, I then turned this into an animation using after effects.
My strengths in this project was turning a boring, colourless image into a colourful picture for my team using colour picker and brushstroke on photoshop. I have learned new animating techniques and skills. Created an image from an idea that my team had just created.
The things I could most improve on is communicating with my team to make the photoshopped image look a little more like the idea we created. I also should have learned to animate in my spare time instead of wasting class time.
If I were to make a new product in the future I would make more things move, use more animating skills, learn more about the project before winging it without detail on what I’m doing and take other peoples advice on the product more.

Animated Show
Title- The Freaks of Nature
Premise- In a present day Glasgow, the students of a fairly mundane Glaswegian high school go about their day oblivious to the knowledge that a selection of super powered students walk the same halls as they do. Saving the world on the down-low one minute and studying for their Highers the next.
Characters (members of The Covert League)
Brook McBride: Appearance- Relatively tall with straight honey-blonde hair and blue eyes. Age- 16 Personality- Friendly but has a bit of a fiery temper, hard working when motivated, Powers- telekinesis Background- Lives with mum and her stepdad. Her parents got divorced when she was 10 and her mum started dating her (now) stepdad a year after. Refuses to accept her dad as her father due to his lack of effort to be in her life. Considers her stepdad to be her father. Is new to the school and discovers her telekinetic abilities upon her arrival. Is secretly guided on how to control her powers by Noah. Interests- dancing, music, collecting pop culture figurines.
Noah Wells: Appearance- quite tall with short, fringe up (w/ gel) chestnut brown hair and grey eyes Age- 16 Powers- super speed Personality- Charismatic, determined, social butterfly, blunt, can be a little sarcastic and come across as mean but is kind at heart. Background- Lives with twin sister Darcy and college-attendee older brother John in a flat. Discovers that Brook has also has powers and guides her on how to control them. Also tries to cover up his life as a super hero to everyone who isn’t in the covert league to keep them safe, including his family. Interests- Comics, super hero movies and drawing
Luke Mills: Appearance- Tall with short, straight ginger hair (with freckles), brown eyes. Age- 17 Powers- super strength Personality- Is viewed as intimidating by some at first glance due to his height but is a bit of a gentle giant. Is Noah’s best friend. He’s relatively reserved, kind and patient, puts others before himself but is very passionate about subjects and people he cares about. Has a secret crush on Darcy but is too scared to approach due to rejection and also Noah’s reaction. Interests- Baking, bird feeding and boxing.
Darcy Wells: Appearance- quite tall with shoulder length straight chestnut brown hair (fringe held back by a black headband) and grey eyes Age- 16 Powers- none (her power absorption later discovered when she accidentally kills one of the villains of the series) Personality- bubbly, ditzy, often has her head in the clouds, often looks to her brothers for guidance Background- Lives with twin brother Noah and college-attendee older brother John in a flat. Is researching the identities of The Covert League and takes photos for her blog she’s created around the heroes. Is unaware that they are her own brother and his and also her friends. Secretly has a crush on Luke and is aware of Luke’s crush on her, is unsure of how to confess and makes plans of confessing that constantly get interrupted daily by Luke’s secret life as a member of The Covert League or just by people randomly side-tracking her. (Running joke in the series) Interests- Photography, journalism and drawing.
